Notary Services FAQ

What does a Notary Public do?

A Notary Public is an official witness for important document signings. I verify your identity, make sure you understand what you’re signing, and confirm that you are signing willingly. I then apply my official notary seal to complete the notarization.

Why do documents need to be notarized?

Notarization helps prevent fraud. It confirms that the person signing the document is who they say they are and that the signature was made voluntarily.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Please bring:

• A valid government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, state ID, passport, etc.)
• The document that needs to be notarized
All people who need to sign the document

Important: Do not sign the document before the appointment unless you are specifically instructed to do so.

What kinds of documents can be notarized?

Common documents include:

• Power of Attorney
• Affidavits
• Real estate documents
• Vehicle title transfers
• Financial documents
• Permission letters for minors traveling

If you’re unsure whether your document needs notarization, feel free to ask.

Do you provide mobile notary services?

Yes. Mobile notary services may be available, meaning I can travel to your home, office, hospital, or other location when needed.

Can you explain my document to me?

As a Notary Public, I cannot provide legal advice or explain legal documents unless I am also a licensed attorney. My role is to verify identity and witness signatures.

How long does a notarization take?

Most notarizations take about 5–10 minutes per document, depending on the number of signatures required.

What if I don’t have an ID?

New Mexico law requires proof of identity. In some situations, credible witnesses may be used, but it’s best to contact me ahead of time so we can discuss your options.

Can documents be notarized online?

Yes. Some documents may be notarized using Remote Online Notarization, depending on the situation and the platform used.

How much does notarization cost?

Fees may vary depending on the number of notarizations and whether travel is required for mobile service. Please contact me for current pricing.
